Benang Stokel Waterfalls

Benang Stokel Waterfall

Benang Stokel Waterfall is a beautiful twin waterfall located in the village of Aik Berik, Central Lombok Regency, Indonesia. The waterfall is part of the Rinjani Geopark area and is typically visited in conjunction with the nearby Benang Kelambu Waterfall.

Benang Kelambu Waterfall

Benang Kelambu Waterfall is a unique waterfall in Central Lombok, known for its flowing, draping, net-like curtain as it cascades through cliffs covered in moss and vines. Located within Mount Rinjani National Park in Aik Berik Village, this waterfall is a destination offering natural beauty, serenity, and a cool atmosphere.

Lingsar Temple

Lingsar Temple is the holiest and oldest temple complex in Lombok, Indonesia, built in 1714 by the Balinese King Anak Agung Ngurah of Karangasem. It is a unique and significant symbol of religious harmony, blending Balinese Hindu traditions with the Wektu Telu, an indigenous syncretic Islamic belief system of the Sasak people.

Handwoven Village

Lombok is famous for its traditional handwoven villages (desa tenun), where the indigenous Sasak people preserve their ancestral craft of textile weaving. The most prominent villages are Sukarara in Central Lombok and Pringgasela in East Lombok.

The village of Aik Berik, located in the Central Lombok Regency, Indonesia, is a gateway to a natural paradise within the Rinjani Geopark area, boasting several beautiful waterfalls.

The two primary and most accessible waterfalls in Aik Berik are:

Benang Stokel, A beautiful twin (or three-tiered) waterfall that drops about 20 meters, its name meaning “bundle of thread” in the Sasak language. The walk to this waterfall from the entrance is relatively easy, taking only about 10-15 minutes, making it highly accessible.

Benang Kelambu, Often considered the highlight, this unique waterfall resembles a curtain or mosquito net (“kelambu”) as the water flows gently down a wide, lush, fern-covered rock face. The water here comes directly from a natural ground source and is incredibly clear and fresh. It requires a slightly longer (15-40 minute) or steeper walk (around 170 steps) from the Benang Stokel area, or a short motorbike taxi ride.
